Project Resilience | Ulster County, NY

Ulster County, New York

Launched February 2021.

Ulster County was the first rural community in the U.S. to undertake a guaranteed income experiment. This program provided much-needed economic relief directly to families throughout the county. Through a partnership between Project Resilience, Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley, and Ulster Savings Bank, Ulster County provided 100 households with direct relief payments of $500 a month for one year, all funded through the generosity of community donations. CGIR executed a Randomized Controlled Trial to determine the impacts of cash assistance on the overall health and well-being of recipients.
