The Providence Guaranteed Income pilot program was part of the Mayors for Guaranteed Income coalition. A total of 110 households were randomly chosen to receive a monthly disbursement of $500 for 18 months. This guaranteed income program, with the role of supplementing social welfare programs, aimed to display the effects of guaranteed income and be used to advocate for similar programs at the state and federal levels.
